This workshop provides participants with an in depth understanding of how computer software and peripherals can be used to support students with dyslexia and other specific Learning difficulties and disabilities. The presentation includes demonstrations and evaluations of a variety of specifically designed, educationally sound, multi-sensory computer programs to help children with Learning difficulties in reading, spelling writing and maths.
This workshop will look at how computer software can help students to develop the auditory processing, phonological awareness, phonics and other essential skills required for reading and spelling. Participants will explore and evaluate a range of software including; ReadingDoctor ReadingSounds1 Pro, WordShark 4, the Nessy range, Earobics and others.
Participants will explore and evaluate computer programs, specifically designed to help the struggling writer. They will learn how software can help students to develop and organize their ideas, assist with spelling, grammar and comprehension and lead them through the writing process – planning —> note taking —> preparing a draft —>publishing. The workshop includes hands-on familiarization with a range of software including; WYNN, ClaroRead, Draft:Builder, Clicker 5, Co:Writer, Dragon Naturally Speaking and others.
